đŁ Avengers: Doomsday Social Media Post Hints at Who Might Appear
An Easter-themed Instagram post from Robert Downey, Jr. is giving Spider-Man fans a bit of holiday hope for an unconfirmed appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.

Marvel is certainly known for its Easter eggs, but usually these take the form of references to the comics inside their on-screen properties. Our featured story in todayâs newsletter, however, takes the term much more literally. But even with the Easter basket imagery shared on social media promoting Avengers: Doomsday, it would be naive to think that Marvel â or Robert Downey, Jr. himself â didnât know exactly what they were doing. Itâs hard to picture the artist behind the uncredited image saying, âOops, I didnât realize I put that in there!â
Itâs not unlike the speculation surrounding the asterisk in Marvelâs Thunderbolts*. During marketing, studio head Kevin Feige famously said, âWe wonât talk about the asterisk until after release,â but that didnât stop people from making their guesses ahead of time. What better publicity could you ask for than people discussing the minutiae of your promo material for months before the movie comes out? After all, fan theorizing lasts much longer than a fleeting official confirmation!
