🎃 Exclusive: V/H/SHalloween & Black Phone 2 Spooky Season Insights

Check out our exclusive interviews with the filmmakers behind the latest horror offerings, V/H/SHalloween and Black Phone 2, straight out of Fantastic Fest 2025.

Friday Edition October 3, 2025

October just hits different. And even though Fantastic Fest was in September, it feels appropriate to have waited to share our spooky season interview content until Halloween season was in full swing. Although, honestly, how on Earth did it take eight V/H/S movies before we got a Halloween-themed entry? The franchise enters a candy-filled hellscape this time around, and we can’t wait for you to hear from Paco Plaza, Alex Ross Perry, and the other creators behind the latest Shudder film, V/H/S/Halloween.

Not to be outdone, the Black Phone 2 filmmakers Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill spoke with us about their journey to making a sequel they weren’t originally intending to develop. Unlike V/H/S, this movie hasn’t come out yet, so the director and writer insights are particularly enticing for those planning on revisiting Finney, Gwen, and the Grabber in the theater.

Then we have one more interview celebrating the anniversary of the rebirth of the dire wolf, a genetics triumph from Colossal Biosciences. Okay, maybe that isn’t as scary as the films above, but let’s face it: wolves still fit the Halloween vibe. Get your exclusive update on Romulus and Remus within!
