The Philippou brothers, known for their intense horror films, share some surprisingly lighthearted inspirations in our inaugural episode of our video series In the Den.

Thursday Edition May 29, 2025

We’re excited to introduce a brand-new video series here at Den of Geek called In the Den, available on our YouTube channel. In each episode, we sit down with filmmakers, actors, writers, and passionate cinephiles to talk about the movies that shaped them — the deep cuts that influenced their creative lives, the childhood favorites they can still quote line-for-line, and the cinematic surprises that left a permanent mark. Whether it's a cult classic or an unexpected blockbuster, these are the films that helped build the storytellers we know and love today.

In the Den isn’t just about movie recommendations (although you’ll definitely want to update your watchlist). It’s about figuring out what it means when a film lodges itself in your memory and refuses to let go, and how those emotional, formative experiences shape the stories people go on to tell. We’re going beyond surface-level fandom and diving into the moments that sparked lifelong obsessions.

We’re starting with the Philippou brothers, directors of the upcoming horror film, Bring Her Back, and believe me, this premiere installment of In the Den is not to be missed!
