🔔 Live Auction May 22: The Summer of Superman Continues on eBay Live

It’s easy to forget that Superman couldn’t always fly. There’s a reason why the 1940s radio shows began with, "Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!" Jumping really high—not flying—used to be one of Superman’s signature moves.

In fact, in Action Comics #25, a featured item up for bids in our Summer of Superman live auction this Thursday, Clark Kent is depicted piloting an airplane of all things. This rare issue comes from a time when the superhero’s identity and powers were still being formed, and the lines between Clark Kent and Superman weren’t as clear. That’s what makes this a collectible comic you’ll definitely want to get your hands on!

Pre-World War II Superman had Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen, but not much else. Even Lex Luthor had a full head of red hair back then! How things change…
