🦖 Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Stars On Season 2’s More Human Story

Stars Mari Yamamoto and Anders Holm weigh in on the complicated central trio at the center of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2.

Teamwork makes the dream work, or so they say. In today’s newsletter, we explore the strength in numbers for central story characters in movies and in television. In our headliner interview for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, it’s a “tragic throuple” that lends more emotional depth to season 2 of the Apple TV series, and in our continuing coverage of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, we look forward to a sophomore season that emphasizes the feelings and character development of the knight and his squire over violence and action.

But teamups like that of Dunk and Egg aren’t the exclusive territory of protagonists. As we saw in the Scream 5 “requel” with the murderous Carpenter sisters, there’s a certain power in loyal sisterhood even when that relationship is used for evil. Viewers just love seeing the interplay of personalities and how the whole is often greater than the sum of its parts, both for heroes and for villains. It makes you wonder why films and shows don’t feature teams more often!
