š„ Mortal Kombat II: No One Is Safe from Fatality
We spoke with the writer and director of Mortal Kombat II as well as star Karl Urban and the original creator of the game about the transformative upcoming sequel.
Friday Edition October 24, 2025
Itās honestly a great time to be a fan of actors who know how to command the screen without overdoing it. Karl Urban has always had that rare mix of intensity and charm, whether heās swinging a sword in The Lord of the Rings, growling through The Boys, or soon putting on Johnny Cageās shades for Mortal Kombat II. You just know heās going to bring that perfectly cocky, wink-to-the-camera energy that makes Cage such a fan favorite.
And then thereās Jesse Plemons, who continues to be one of the most quietly magnetic actors working today. His performance in Bugonia as the eccentric and deluded Teddy Gatz really has his talents on full display. He has such an uncanny way of making even the strangest characters feel human (honestly, heāll always be Breaking Badās Todd to me). Seeing both of these guys headlining genre projects that lean into their strengths feels like a win for fans of smart, character-driven spectacle for sure.
