It's an extravaganza of exclusive director interviews as legendary auteurs Steven Soderbergh and the Russo brothers talk about their latest projects.
Friday Edition December 6, 2024
We love putting out the Den of Geek magazine, available for free at over 140 comic book stores in the U.S., but our online audience also benefits from the many exclusive interviews the print version provides.
This week, we’re excited to share with you the unique perspective of auteur director Steven Soderbergh as well as commentary from box office juggernauts the Russo Brothers. Their projects, the horror film Presence and the sci-fi movie The Electric State respectively, are probably two of the most innovative offerings you’ll find in theaters in the coming months.

Steven Soderbergh on the Unique Horror of Presence, Making a Spy Thriller, and Seeking New Challenges
Director Steven Soderbergh admitted he was taking a risk with his upcoming horror film, Presence. The entire story is told from the perspective of a ghost haunting a suburban family’s home, which presented a unique set of challenges.
“It really was a directorial gimmick that I’d never employed to this extent, and it was exciting,” he told our reporter. “At the same time, there’s no plan B. If it doesn’t work, you’re screwed.”
Follow along as we chat with Soderbergh about Presence and his other notable projects including the Ocean’s trilogy; Sex, Lies, and Videotape; and a spy thriller in the works called Black Bag.

The Electric State Imagines How Walt Disney Destroyed the World (in an Alternate Timeline)
We recently spoke with directors Joe and Anthony Russo along with actor Stanley Tucci about their upcoming Netflix movie, The Electric State, and it’s a must-read for fans of alternate reality science fiction.
The film tells the story of sentient robots and virtual reality systems and is based on the work of retrofuturist artist and writer Simon Stålenhag. The story is grounded firmly in an imaginary version of 30 years ago: a late 20th century in which Disney animatronics became sentient… and vengeful.
