⚡ The Flash Failed, But What Is the Real Reason Behind the Bust?
The Flash, like several other DC films, did not do well at the box office, but the director's explanation isn't the only theory out there.
Tuesday Edition January 14, 2025
When The Flash bombed at the box office back in 2023, there were a whole host of possible explanations external to the storytelling. Director Andy Muschietti, in fact, recently shared his pet theory: women don’t like The Flash as a superhero. But is that the reason or just a reason?
And speaking of theories, fans of Squid Game are speculating like crazy about what challenges await Seong Gi-hun and the other survivors in season 3. We love to explore the background details of this series, including the most heartbreaking betrayals, the MVP of season 2, and why the ending feels so abrupt.
Deep dive with us into The Flash failure and the Squid Game success below!

So Why Did The Flash Flop?
It’s safe to say The Flash screenplay attempted to do a lot, perhaps too much. But while the script alone can’t be blamed for the movie’s box office disappointment, the reason director Andy Muschietti provided in a recent interview seems equally narrow: women don’t like scarlet speedster.
Senior Movies Editor David Crow tackles some of the other real-world issues that plagued The Flash even before it hit theaters. He also explores other larger forces at play that likely contributed to the downfall of one of the last DC superhero films to land before James Gunn and company stepped in to revamp the franchise’s universe.

Geek Sessions: Sean McVerry’s Rendition of SpongeBob's "Ripped Pants"
It was way back in the second ever episode of SpongeBob Squarepants that the titular hero bent down to lift some weights and suffered the humiliation of ripped pants. Oh, the embarrassment that only a song can remedy!

Squid Game Season 3 Has Three Games to Go: Here’s What They Could Be
Unlike the first season of Squid Game, season 2 ends before the games are truly done. Despite efforts to end the games early, the survivors will likely have to face a few more deadly games when the series returns for its third season.
When that return happens is anyone’s guess, but that hasn’t stopped fans from theorizing what games the players could face when it does. Based on the number of games in the first season, it’s reasonable to expect three more children’s game challenges before this round is over. So will it be a version of the monkey bars? A game of chess? Something else? Come speculate with us!
