šŸ“š The Life of Chuck Cast Share Their Stephen King Confessions

Mark Hamill, Karen Gillan, and others from the cast of The Life of Chuck share the times when Stephen King entered their lives, making this movie that much more personal.

Friday Edition June 13, 2025

What was your first experience with Stephen King? Mine, given I’m not a huge fan of horror, was not very typical. I was working part time in a bookstore in 1996 when The Green Mile first came out, and at the time, Stephen King and his publisher released the story as a serial novel in six small paperback installments. Each installment was about 100 pages long and released monthly from March to August of that year.

The little books were very cute, and the marketing gimmick got me good. But I found the story of the novel even more compelling than the packaging, and I quickly dove into the archives for some of my favorite non-horror King reads: The Dead Zone, Firestarter, Different Seasons. And later came one of my all-time favorite time travel books: 11/22/63.

Everyone, not just the cast of The Life of Chuck, probably has their own unique entry into the world of Stephen King, either through books or the many movie adaptations. See if yours matches that of Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, or Matthew Lillard below!
