🎩 Weapons Review: Horror Movie or 'Two-Hour Magic Trick'?

We're hoping our fiendish enjoyment of Zach Cregger's Weapons and our joy at Wednesday's lack of a sophomore slump will be infectious.

Friday Edition August 8, 2025

The summer of 2025 has really delivered. Besides the big action films and superhero movies like Mission: Impossible, Superman, and The Fantastic Four, we’ve also learned some valuable lessons from the success of live action remakes of How To Train Your Dragon and Lilo & Stitch. But don’t count horror movies out! Sinners had its day in the spring, and it looks like this summer’s winner will be Weapons.

It feels like we’ve had a lot of praise to share on Den of Geek lately, and we love doing our part to create buzz around TV shows and movies we think our readers will enjoy. In that sense, we’re also happy to report that Wednesday is back on Netflix, and its second season is just as good as the show’s original outing, which took the world by storm back in 2022. Interesting that both of our featured reviews are in the gothic vein… feels somehow appropriate as fall approaches.
