👨👧👦 Wes Anderson On The Phoenician Scheme, Fatherhood, and Musicals
Exclusive: Wes Anderson talks about The Phoenician Scheme influences and how becoming a parent has changed his relationship with troubled father figures.
Friday Edition June 6, 2025
It’s always exciting to share our exclusive interviews with our readers, and this week we have quite an exciting trio: director Wes Anderson, actor Ian McShane, and actor Jai Courtney. The insights they share about their films is almost as enlightening as what we learn about the people themselves. But we wanted to make sure you also knew about our other coverage of the projects they’re talking about.
We, of course, have our glowing review of Anderson’s latest project, The Phoenician Scheme, which Senior Movies Editor David Crow says returns the quirky director “to full, magnificently daffy form.” Meanwhile, if you’re thinking of watching McShane in From the World of John Wick: Ballerina on this it’s opening weekend, you might want to check out reviewer Don Kaye’s impressions of the film in advance of its release.
If you’re like me, it doesn’t matter if the review is good or bad — I’ll make my own judgment, thank you very much. But I still enjoy seeing how the latest films are being received so that I can watch them with a critical eye while I enjoy some hot buttered popcorn.
